Tracey Warren, Vice President of the BOD, issued the following statement on 12/21:

<blockquote>
We were informed by ProCom that sections 5 and 6 had been turned over to the County. Obviously there is some disconnect. We are addressing it. We apologize to the community to those that have been inconvenienced. At this time, 99.9% of the streets in the Community have been plowed.

An aside: There were complaints from homeowners in the cul de sacs regarding the lack of snow removal. We have been told that cul de sacs are typically addressed last.
</blockquote>

And the following today, 12/28:

<blockquote>
Tolman was plowed and salted on Monday by a private contractor. Collete was plowed by the county and by the private contractor. My husband Robert witnessed both.
</blockquote>

Hopefully this helps.

Thank you for the reply. I have called the county and they are aware of the problem. Hopefully this will not happen in the future. I appreciate the quick reply from you. Thanks!

Sue,

I certainly understand your frustrations. But you're directing your anger in the wrong direction. As has been mentioned a number of times, Tolman Lane and all the other roads the single-family homes are on are county-owned. This means the county (alone) is responsible for snow removal and trash pickup. The HOA does not and cannot take care of these functions on county-owned roads. Please complain to the county, as have others. The more who complain, the more likely something will be done.

The snow stopped early sunday morning. Tolman Lane did not see ANY snow plow at any time. The plows came through for the main street, but never for Tolman Lane. I ask, what is the monthly payment for the HOA for?? Maybe I should just cut the monthly fee in half, since snow removal apparently does not include for Tolman lane. No trash pickup on Tolman either - because the truck would not try to come down the street on ice. Trash removal came on the main street in the community. What seems to be the problem. More snow is being predicted for New Years Eve. Will there be any plows/snow removal/salt for Tolman lane???

Mike,

 Thanks. I was as surprised as you were about the response on the county website. I actually put the house number in the form but took it out of my post. I am in the process of calling now.

The county says:
The address: STAR STELLA DR is on a privately owned road. Your street is not owned or maintained by Anne Arundel County. Snow removal service is the responsibility of the owner of your street.
</blockquote>

What??? This is news to me, and is almost certainly a mistake. I will make sure the BOD is aware of this declaration by the county. I was under the impression that all roads in Chapel Grove have been turned over from the builder to the county. Hmmmmmmm........

Keith,

As mentioned, the HOA only contracts/pays to have our private roads plowed (in the townhome section). Star Stella and the other roads in the single-family home area are all county owned, and so it's up to the county to plow there. Unfortunately we have no control over that whatsoever. Your best bet (?!) is to call and complain to the county.

The snow stopped on Saturday night and there has been no snow plowing in the back of the subdivision. When are we going to see plowing taking place. It is very hazardous driving on Star Stella Dr.
